Spiderwebs
frosted to tinsel
herald fretful sleep
under lightless sky.
Ice glitters
in winter dark.
Huddled beneath
tangled undergrowth,
those most fragile
await light’s return.
Each evening,
stars fall groveward,
mocking summer’s fire.
