My dear,
sweet spring,
thank you
for meeting me here
in my childlike state,
feeling young like you
with legs and limbs dangling
from a long-forgotten
plank and rope swing,
fastened to a lone pine
tucked into the nape
of this open field.
I don’t know
who put it here
but I bet you do.
Now, our paths
are crossing again
in this moment made
for me, for you, and this lone pine.
How I missed you so,
your dewdrop tears,
your unabated breath,
your chaotic choir.
The vernal season
is upon us, offering
a time for thawing,
and ethereal emoting,
a kind reminder
of better distractions
and warmth to come.
