Enough Night

Location

Winter can’t steal what I want to give.
I wait for night to pour color out of sky,
to discard the blue, orange, red like chaff
What remains is the clarity of the gloaming.

Dark–light dyad, dark branch on dark sky,
moon in the distance, enough night
for small-scale danger, whiff
of owl wings, skitter of feet,
walls of snow bounding the well-trod path.
