We are proud to support Openlands’ 2026 Annual Luncheon celebrating the vital connection between nature, biodiversity, and thriving communities. We are especially honored that Dr. Tessa Francis, Deputy Director of The Nature Record, will serve as keynote speaker, and Kimberly Blaeser will be the featured poet. We are also delighted that copies of The Nature of Our Times will be given to the event’s host committee, and grateful to be part of this important gathering of nearly 800 civic, corporate, and conservation leaders!

The Nature of the Poem
Find inspiration in the natural world at this lively, hands-on poetry workshop with acclaimed poet Caroline Goodwin, former Poet Laureate of San Mateo County, drawing from the anthology, The Nature of Our Times. Explore ways to capture nature’s energy through writing prompts and shared creativity, just bring a pen, an open mind, and a willingness to experiment. This workshop is free for everyone to attend, and light refreshments will be served.

The Nature of Our Times: A Writing & Creativity Workshop
Youth and families are invited to explore the exhibit through guided reflection and discovery. Participants will engage in a creative response session led by Lake Erie Ink teaching artists, using poetry, visual storytelling, and short reflections to respond to the exhibit’s themes. The program concludes with the creation of a personal or collaborative pledge that will become part of The Nature of Our Times exhibit, adding youth and community voices to this living installation.

The Nature of Our Times: Reading & Open Mic
Southern California poets Elizabeth Kuelbs and Zosimo Quibilan, Jr. will be reading from The Nature of Our Times on June 24th at 6PM PDT at the Thousand Oaks Library.
