Global warming bears the blame;
Dreams are set ablaze, turning futures to ashes,
As if innards of the earth are laid bare.
The fury brings deep sea into backyards;
Wash away the foundations of homes.
Canoes are launched to navigate neighborhoods.
We witness the plight;
Displaced families walk for miles,
Carrying their babies,
Fading in exhaustion under the relentless heat,
Battling unknown disease—
Lives lost during that haunting journey.
When is “Enough is enough?”
A Buddhist would ask,
Hearts ablaze with passion ignite fire,
For that is what they know best.
Seasons return; let’s listen
To rustlings of falling leaves—
Murmurs of dreams once sown
And how to rekindle hidden embers
Of dreams.
