Having a body and knowing life

The whole world just turned green.
Not just green, but the color
that is shoved into every crease
of the world on a morning in April
that reminds you that this Earth is a
living
breathing
creature.

New life slides out of itself, multiplying
to no end and I struggle to take a breath.

This breath keeps expanding and pushing
against the walls of my body. It becomes
bigger than myself.

This is a moment we share.

We open our eyes
and we can’t see
each other’s smiles,

but we know they are there.
