If We Were All Bees

Location

I was born to be a bee.
Buzzing wherever I like,
To spend each day among flowers and trees.
And having a hive to go home to at night.

Waking up with a purpose,
Alongside all the others.
To spread pollen,
And bring back nectar to my brothers.

I’d pick up a bit of this and a touch of that,
Stopping to smell the roses.
Alerting my friends to the sweetest scents,
And accepting that eventually everything decomposes.

What could we accomplish,
If we acted the way they did?
Always thinking of the best for the community,
Instead of watching society fall while placing a bid.

Putting Mother Earth first,
As they do their Queen.
For we will all die when she does,
And we will take with us everything alive and green.

What if we were all Bees?

We would dance with everyone that passed,
We would feed the hurt and young.
We would share sweetness that never goes bad,
We wouldn’t be ashamed of the songs we hummed.

We would always fulfill our duty,
Just grateful to God for being alive.
All the same beautiful black and yellow fuzz.
And our final breaths would be in defense out of love for our hive.
