Do not think of the monarchs
in the news this week—do not think
of the news. It is summer. You deserve
to sit outside under the fig tree and watch
the starlings feast on the fruit you planned
to jar for preserves. You deserve the tomato
sun-warmed and straight off the vine; here
rabbit, here fox, eat, and all around us
the milkweed is alive with bliss
with belief.
