Nature Withers

Location

Nature withers as we watch, ruptured
arteries of oil killing the earth.

I scream as sludge begins to fill my
mouth and breath no longer fills my lungs.

Without the antidote of music, art and poetry
I shall die before I’m even missed,

a vagrant memory in the minds of some
a taste that lingers after death has wandered off.
