Pacific Spirit Park

Location

we approach
from an asphalt corridor

along the margin
a surface tension trembles
Douglas Fir and Cedar
exhale cool airs
only to reabsorb
claiming us too

within
their towering stance
slender and true
fingers of gods directing
vertical runnels of light
to spill on rich foliage

in the distance
well beyond the trail’s edge
an inaccessible grove
one can feel stillness
emanating
the light is different there

If I could reach out
and cup it in my hand
and breathe it in
true enlightenment
would surely descend
or maybe just
a sense of well-being
to last beyond this spent hour
