Protect and Serve

Location

Mother Earth,
I’m forever in your service.
I’ll plant trees and turn compost,
I will love your many creatures.

Unceasing, your work for us,
Your generosity is eternal,
It’s from your grounded fulcrum that
We leverage all actions.

When my world’s in disarray,
From stress, greed and malice,
I meditate on your shore,
Borne up by your rocks and soil.

This poem first appeared in Gospel of the Flowers (2019).
