Flashing blades,
daggers and thorns,
slicing and gnawing at tendrils,
scraggly, writhing.
The screaming rabid beast
sinks in its teeth,
stained by the juice
sweet and raspberry red,
famished, feasting
and hungry for more.
This war is ages old,
man versus machine,
machine versus nature,
nature versus time.
The battle may be won
but in this long game,
nature always wins
and to the victor go the spoils.
