AUTUMN
The trees.
full in color
rainbows,
brilliant
— shades of green,
golden, orange, red pink,
variegated color vibrations
kaleidoscopic—
mesmerizing.
Walking this morning,
breathing in the surroundings
felt mystical
—three buzzards sunbathing
High in a dead oak tree
—a trinity in triangle formation.
sat quietly
observing
a small flock of Canadian Geese
glide across,
in typical V formation
—Layers of feathers familiar
welcoming
the clear blue morning sky.
I am blessed
Life in the country
every breath,
every step
brings peace and joy.
Trees slowly raining leaves
in layers of color,
lined in a natural order,
gently reverting to a naked stance.
Blending in form and texture.
a chorus line
with bright multi-colored
organic gowns,
flowing in the wind
dancing in the harvest daylight.
AUTUMN FROST
Thanksgiving—
frost last night
a morning freeze,
trees holding
autumn foliage,
showing beauty
in what remains.
I am in harmony,
Embracing,
beauty that remains.
My trees counsel—
Keep the faith,
fasten your seat belt
for a rough ride,
Winter is Coming!
WINTER
January 7, 2025
Tuesday in Delaware
The first real storm
Historical
Leaving accumulation
Dropping 4 inches
A cold morning
Temps in 20’s
Sun bright,
Highlights
Picture postcard views,
Colorful and varied
The birds visit
Frequent;
A happy day
This 7th day
Of the first month
A new year
2025
So many thoughts
A new slate
What will it bring?
Carpe diem- seize the day
The moment
Perfection!
Feeds suet to woodpeckers
White everywhere
The trees,
The grounds
Majestic—
The woodpecker’s crown
Matching
The Cardinal’s red coat;
They are two stars,
Surrounded by a flock,
Supporting feathers
Black and white,
Tuxedoed birds,
The supporting cast,
Words raining,
Reflective thoughts
“have a day”
My daughter’s words
Bring smiles,
With re-memories
Combining breath,
With the present moment,
Carpe diem.
Seize the day
HAVE A DAY!
