A fish goes blblblblblblbl;
A bear doesn’t mind.
The tree says shshshshsh
To the birds—many of whom
We already know.
It is unknown the sound of moss
Or the language of most insects.
And if I said something they understood
If indeed I could—would I be
Myself, or their kin, or rather
An interlocutor like wood?
