I stared in amazement
at the tidal mud flats
that spread out at low
tide as far as the eye
could see looking like
some giant tsunami was
on its way to frighten
Indonesian elephants away
but instead there remained
behind me miles on end
of black spruce forests
awaiting the foamy spray
of a 40-foot high salty wave.
