Transience

Location

you stand upon a threshold
to a journey of discovery
the trail was laid
in days gone by
yet here we stand at the brink
and above the bank
following these footsteps
pressed in earth
and sand
meditating as they wind
through wood and stream
stitching together
a bridge across time-
these passages so untraveled
yet abounding
with marks and signs
of our fellow travelers
scrawled into the trunks
hidden in the brush
and swaying in the wind
forever with us
ever reminding us
of those who came before
and where this path is heading
if we follow
in the same soul.
